What is phish the clifford ball?

Phish is a Vermont-based jam band that was formed in 1983. The Clifford Ball was a two-day festival held on August 16-17, 1996 in Plattsburgh, New York, organized by the band. It was the first festival held by Phish, and it drew an estimated 70,000 attendees. The festival featured seven sets of music by the band, as well as sets by other acts such as the Meters, Dave Matthews and Bela Fleck. It was named after Clifford Ball, a former resident of Plattsburgh who owned an amusement park on the site where the festival was held. The festival was considered a landmark in the history of Phish and of music festivals in general, and it set the template for the many festivals the band would go on to organize over the years.
